What is Reiki?
Reiki is a method used to reduce stress and promote relaxation as well as encourage healing in the body. Reiki techniques are conducted by a process known as “laying on hands” and are associated with the belief that unseen “life force energy” flows through all of us and is the reason that we are alive. When a person’s “life force energy” is very low, they often feel stressed or are prone to getting sick. When this energy is high, a person is more likely to be healthy and happier.
Reiki is a word that breaks down to two Japanese words which includes: “Rei” which translates into “the Higher Power or God’s Wisdom”, while Ki stands for “life force energy.” This means that Reiki stands for “spiritually guided life force energy.”
A Reiki treatment is said to feel similar to a glowing radiance which flows around and through you. These treatments treat the whole individual which includes the spirit, mind, emotions and body creating a number of beneficial effects which includes a feeling of wellbeing, peace, security and relaxation. Many people who have undergone a Reiki treatment report back with results which are miraculous.
Self-Improvement
Reiki is a safe and natural technique used for self-improvement and spiritual healing that can be used by anyone. These techniques are said to be effective in assisting with every type of illness and always results in beneficial effects. Reiki also works in combination with other therapeutic or medical techniques in order to encourage recovery or relieve adverse side effects.
The art of Reiki is a simple method to learn, but the abilities on how to use these techniques are not taught in a standard sense, but rather transferred onto the students during their Reiki classes. These abilities are passed on in the stages of “attunement” which is offered by the Reiki master which allows the students to access the “unlimited” supply of “life force energy” in order to improve health as well as improve or enhance one’s quality-of-life.
The use of Reiki is not associated with a person’s spiritual development or intellectual capacity, which means these techniques can be used by everyone. Reiki has been taught to countless people from all backgrounds and ages over the years.
Reiki is undoubtedly spiritual in nature, it isn’t a formal religion though. Reiki is actually not dependent on any type of belief system and will still work regardless of whether the person believes in these techniques or not.

A Harmonious Life

Even though Reiki is not recognized as a religion, those that practise it act and live in the way which encourages harmony with other people. The founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui, suggests that a person who uses Reiki should practice specific ethical yet simple ideals in order to promote harmony and peace, which is just about universal across every culture.
During one of his meditations many years after he developed Reiki, Usui made a decision to add Reiki Ideals into the practice of Reiki. These Ideals were first developed in order to add in a spiritual balance to the Usui Reiki. The purpose behind these Ideals is to assist people into recognizing that healing their own spirit by making a conscious decision to improve is an important part associated with the Reiki healing experience.
To ensure that these Reiki healing energies translate into a lasting result, the client has to accept the responsibility for their own healing by actively participating in the treatment. For this reason, the Usui system of Reiki involves more than just using Reiki energy. It has to include active commitments from the client to improve themselves to result in a completed system. These ideals are guidelines to live a life that is gracious as well to hold virtues that are worthy in regards to practice in association to their actual inherent values.
